loadrunner 11.52 "use protected application recording"

Hi,

We had problem with LR 11.52, with recording functionality on vugen. (win 2003 64bits)

VuGen was not able to launch the browser (IE 8 or Firefox portable...) 

We could see a small iexplore.exe process of 140k  in the task manager, but the browser was not opening...

After investigating for a couple of days, deactivating DEP and Mcafee, reinstalling, and so on... someone found a new recording option: "use protected application recording"

When this option is checked, it works ! (not checked by default)

What is exactly behind this checkbox ? A different method to launch process ?
